Discover Dinghy Sailing

Dinghy Sailing can be a social activity done with friends and family, a highly competitive sport with racing at club and international level, or a high adrenaline buzz whilst sailing one of the modern high performance dinghies. If dinghy sailing is something that you've always fancied then our Discover Dinghy Sailing intro could be the perfect taster for you, it consists of an hour's private tuition with an experienced instructor who will provide you with an insight into the exciting and dynamic world of sailing. By the end of the hour you will know if dinghy sailing is something that you want to continue with, in which case sign up to one of our RYA Level 1 courses.

Agenda

Your instructor will meet and give you a quick introduction to the boat before you head out on to the water aboard a double handed dinghy. You will be shown the principles of sailing such as tacking and gybing and will have the opportunity to take control of the boat to really get a feel for this great sport. You will have the instructor to yourself for the hour so take advantage to find out as much as you possibly can about what the sport can offer.
In Brighton, this is a 1:1 course.

Restrictions

Age Restrictions: Min age at most locations is 8.
(Under 18's must be accompanied by an adult).
At Manchester Location Min age is 9.
At Nottingham Location Min age is 16 and Max weight is 114kg / 18 stone (or Max chest size 122cm / 48 inch).

Duration
Your experience will last for one hour.

What to Wear / Equipment
Bring a Swimming costume, and non-slip shoes that you are prepared to get wet. We recommend that you wear a long sleeved top with full length trousers. NO JEANS. A change of dry clothes is also recommended. All other specialist equipment including lifejacket is provided.

Group Size / Spectators
Spectators are welcome at the majority of our centres, please check when booking to be safe.
In Hove, this session is run as a 1:1 course.

Sailing courses can be weather dependent and in extreme circumstances the course may be affected. Please check with the center prior to arrival.
