Stand Up Paddleboarding Experience Days: Experience the countryside of Houghton le Spring like never before with this exciting stand up paddleboarding adventure! You’ll be taught all the basics of this fast-growing water sport from expert instructors, with all equipment provided.
Your experience begins when you meet the rest of your group and qualified instructors at Hetton Lyons Country Park, just outside Sunderland. Next, you’ll get kitted out in all the specialist equipment needed, including your wetsuit and premium Red Paddle Co board. Your instructors will provide an introduction and safety briefing before you head out onto the water for your aquatic adventure. Throughout the lesson, your specialist guides will demonstrate how to paddle board, offering you helpful tips and tricks. They’ll be on-hand at all times to encourage and assist you during your paddleboarding experience, and by the end you’re sure to feel a lot more confident on the water.
This stand up paddleboarding experience is the perfect gift for fans of the great outdoors, and makes a fun addition to a day out in Sunderland!
When can you book Newcastle Stand-Up Paddle Boarding Experience
This stand up paddleboarding lesson takes place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday every week (subject to availability.)
If you're booking for 6 or more people, you can book a private lesson at location of your choosing; opt for a Blue Flag beach, local river or sheltered lake.
Groups of under 6 will be added to an existing session at Hetton Lyons Country Park.
Water Requirements
The minimum age for this stand up paddleboarding experience is 11.
In order to take part in this activity, all participants must be
able to swim a minimum of 25 meters unaided.
Please note that any participant who is pregnant or suffers from
neck, back or heart conditions cannot take part in stand up paddleboarding.

What to Wear For This Activity
All the specialist equipment you need will be provided by the
venue, including wetsuits and paddleboards.
You must bring shoes that cover your entire foot, such as wetsuit boots or soft shoes.
Flip flops, crocs or bare feet are not permitted.
Please also bring swimwear to wear under your wetsuit, a towel, and any medication you may need. (i.e. Inhalers, Epi Pen etc.)
Is This Activity Weather Dependent?
Generally this experience is not affected by the weather. On the rare occasion where the weather prohibits the experience from taking place, the supplier will do their best to put you onto an alternative activity, or re-book for another time.
